Welcome to thetipsysnob.com! I'm Allison, someone who loves to cook, eat, drink, entertain, and travel. This all started when I was pretty young (except the drinking, of course). According to my mom, I started trying to cook at age two when I dumped a whole container of oatmeal into a pot, filled it with water, and woke her up when I couldn't lift it onto the stove. You can also look at any pictures or videos of me when I was a kid and I usually have food in my hand or all over my mouth and clothing. 

I've carried that love of food with me as I've gotten older. Working in various kitchens and restaurants, learning to identify ingredients in the dishes I eat and trying to recreate them, hosting parties and events to improve my recipes and presentations, traveling to experience food from other places, and attempting to learn more about wine to plan complete menus with flavors that pair well together. This site is a collection of what I've learned along the way, and the personal stories that accompany each adventure in the kitchen or in another city. Enjoy!

Now that you know a little more about me, here are a few things to know about the content I've shared with you here:

 

  • My cooking style is pretty free form and these recipes are more like guidelines, make them your own and have fun with it

  • I am not professionally trained, I just love cooking and sharing my love of food with people

  • Some of these recipes are inspired by dishes I've found online or tried in restaurants, I will always give credit where credit is due

  • I do this for fun; I have a day job that takes up a lot of my time and this site, these recipes, everything here is a creative outlet
